What is your role at Vovia?

I’m a Junior Digital Media Specialist. I help run and optimize campaigns across Google, Meta, and other platforms, dig into numbers to find what’s actually working, and support the team with anything that makes our campaigns smarter and more efficient. Basically, I’m here to learn fast, contribute even faster, and make everyone’s life a little easier. The DMT team should agree (please guys!)

What do you do in your spare time?

I’m either at the gym, on my PlayStation, or learning some new random skill that caught my attention that week. Recently, that “random skill” has been guitar, and let’s just say I’m still working on getting my fingers to cooperate.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise people.

When I was a kid, people asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I could never give a straight answer. I genuinely wanted to be everything — a doctor, a developer, a marketer, a musician… basically anyone who created cool things or solved interesting problems.

And honestly? Not much has changed.

(Spoiler) I don’t think I’m becoming a doctor anytime in this lifetime, but the rest is very much in motion. Even though my background is in marketing, I’ve taught myself to code apps and full-stack websites, built my own app named Artha, launched my portfolio (katyal.dev), and now I’m learning guitar so I can at least claim to be somewhat of a musician.

I pick up new skills quickly, and I kind of enjoy surprising people with the next random thing I decide to learn.

What do you love/what are you most passionate about?

I’m passionate about businesses and marketing – especially understanding why things work and how to make them work better. I love watching how the right strategy can genuinely move a business forward. Seeing real growth and knowing I contributed to that in some way… that’s the fun part for me.

What is the best part about working at Vovia?

Definitely the people. Being in a city away from home, having a team that treats you like family makes a huge difference. Everyone is kind, patient, and always ready to help — whether it’s work-related or just making sure you’re settling in. Vovia feels like a second family, and that’s something you don’t find everywhere.

Favourite quote/quote you live by

The famous Gita quote is from Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 2, Verse 47: “Karmanye vadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachana. Ma karma-phala-hetur bhur ma te sangostvakarmani”
Which means, “You have the right to work, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions. Never consider yourself the cause of the results of your activities, nor be attached to inaction”. It’s a call to perform your duties with full effort, focusing on the process and excellence, without attachment to outcomes like success or failure, which leads to peace and effective action. It keeps me focused on effort, learning, and growth – and lets the results take care of themselves.

Are you learning guitar? How’s that going?

Slowly. My fingers hurt, my chords buzz, but when one note finally sounds right, it feels like winning a Grammy.

What games do you play?

Mostly competitive games like COD and Fortnite. I love the team aspect — the callouts, the chaos, and yes… occasionally flexing my aim when it magically decides to behave.

What got you into coding?

Curiosity, honestly. I love figuring out how things work, and coding gave me the power to build things from scratch – apps, websites, tools, anything. It’s been incredibly useful too… I’ve used these skills to automate a bunch of repetitive marketing tasks, which has been a pure payoff in time saved.
