Knowing what you know now, what single piece of advice would you give your younger self?
I’ve got a few pieces of advice I’d love to pass on to my younger self — but if I had to pick just one, it would be: don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Growth rarely happens when you stay in familiar territory. Taking on new challenges boosts your confidence, opens doors to opportunities you didn’t know existed, and helps shape you into a more resilient and well-rounded person — both professionally and personally.
What made you move over to Vovia in the first place?
Love brought me here — literally! I got married in December 2013 to my life partner, who was already a permanent resident in Canada. I moved to Calgary in January 2015 to start this new chapter of my life. With a background in digital marketing, I was on the hunt for the right opportunity in this new country. That’s when I came across Vovia’s job posting. I landed the role, and it turned out to be everything I was hoping for to kick-start my career in Canada. Vovia was my first job here — and 10 years later, I’m still here, having grown alongside the company. It’s been quite the ride!
Do you remember your first day? Tell me about it.
My first day was at Vovia’s old office in Sunalta — a cozy, smaller space compared to where we are now, but it had the same open and welcoming layout we’re known for today. I remember walking in and getting a tour of the office and meeting the different department teams. Everyone made a point to come over and say hello, which instantly made me feel at ease. And of course, meeting the office dogs sealed the deal — I knew in that moment I had found the right place.
How has Vovia evolved over the last 10 years?
It’s been incredible to witness and be part of Vovia’s evolution. Over the years, we’ve significantly expanded our digital media service offerings. What started with a strong foundation in SEM, SEO, and paid social has now grown into a robust suite of digital solutions that includes video, programmatic display, audio, native advertising, e-commerce, and more. We’ve also become adept at managing omnichannel campaigns across platforms—connecting the dots between strategy, media, data, and performance.
One of the most exciting transformations has been our adoption of AI-powered ad technologies. We’ve leaned into the shift toward automation and machine learning across platforms like Google, Meta, LinkedIn, and others. Whether it’s leveraging Performance Max campaigns on Google, utilizing Meta’s Advantage+ campaigns, or adopting smart bidding and audience signals, we’ve embraced these AI-driven tools to optimize campaigns more effectively, deliver stronger ROI, and free up time for deeper strategic thinking. And we haven’t just followed trends — we’ve built internal expertise around these tools, tested rigorously, and refined our approach to ensure we’re delivering real value to our clients. That spirit of innovation and adaptability is what I hope continues to define us moving forward.
Stacey — who’s now our VP of Media — and I started at the same time! Since then, Vovia has expanded into a full-service media agency, integrating both digital and traditional media. The addition of traditional media was a major turning point — it allowed us to go after bigger, more integrated campaigns and clients with larger media budgets.
Another major area of growth has been our Marketing Intelligence team. What started as basic tracking and reporting has now expanded into advanced offerings like predictive analytics, creative analytics, and customized performance dashboards. It’s been amazing to see these teams—and the company as a whole—evolve into something bigger and stronger year after year.

What was the biggest challenge that you faced at Vovia over this time?
Definitely keeping pace with the ever-changing digital landscape. The pace of change in this industry is relentless — new platforms, updates, privacy policies, automation, AI.. it can be overwhelming! But at the same time, that’s what makes our work exciting and rewarding. It keeps you on your toes and constantly learning.
What do you feel are your biggest accomplishments since you started in 2015?
Without a doubt, my biggest accomplishment is growing into a leadership role and becoming part of the senior leadership team. I started out as a Search Specialist, focused on the technical execution of campaigns. Over the years, I not only deepened my platform expertise but also developed a completely different skill set around leadership—things like team development, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration.
I’ve been fortunate to learn from some incredible leaders here — Susan Murphy, Cameron Prockiw, Jeremy Kitson — who have all played a role in shaping my leadership journey. I’m truly grateful for their guidance and support along the way.
If you could switch your job with anyone else within Vovia for one day, whose job would you want?
I’d swap roles with someone from our Marketing Intelligence team. Since I work closely with them on various tracking and reporting needs, I’d love to see what happens on their side — how they build dashboards, set up advanced analytics, and turn data into insights. It’d be fascinating to dive into their world, even just for a day.
What behaviour or personality traits do you most attribute your success to, and why?
I’d say my optimistic attitude has been my biggest asset. No matter how tough things get, I’ve always tried to stay calm, solution-focused, and positive. Instead of dwelling on problems, I ask myself, “Okay, what can we do about this?” I genuinely believe that if something is out of your control, your energy is better spent on figuring out how to navigate it—or minimize the impact—rather than stressing over what you can’t change.
What is your biggest hope for the next decade at Vovia?
Looking ahead, my biggest hope is that Vovia continues to thrive as the leading integrated media agency in Western Canada—one that’s recognized not just for delivering results, but for being innovative, forward-thinking, and deeply collaborative with our clients. I’d love to see us continue evolving our service offerings to keep pace with the ever-changing media landscape and help our clients stay ahead of the curve. My dream is for Vovia to keep raising the bar in our industry and to be known as an agency that consistently drives meaningful, measurable impact.
What is your favourite memory at Vovia?
Honestly, it’s hard to pick just one — after 10 years, there’s a highlight reel playing in my head! From the high-energy team builders (yes, including the overly competitive archery and speeders), to beers-and-cheers Fridays, spontaneous cake celebrations (including my surprise Canadian citizenship celebration), and daily visits from our lovable office dogs — it’s really the little, everyday moments that have made the biggest impact.
That said, there have also been some incredible milestone moments. I’ll never forget the buzz and excitement in the office after winning major RFPs (ATB Financial, Calgary Co-op and Edo Japan). The cheering, the celebratory lunches, and the sense of “we did it together” was just unforgettable. There’s something special about working on a pitch for weeks, seeing it come to life, and then celebrating the win as a team.

Describe what Vovia means to you in one word (or describe Vovia in one word).
Results-oriented
That’s the core of who we are — whether it’s for our clients, our campaigns, or our internal goals, we’re always focused on driving measurable outcomes. And that’s what makes the work so rewarding.
Fun Questions
If you were an animal, what would you be? Why?
I would be an elephant. They’re incredibly intelligent, emotionally aware, and deeply connected to their family groups—all qualities I admire and try to live by. Elephants are known for their strong memory and calm presence, but they’re also fiercely protective when it comes to their herd, especially their young. That blend of gentleness and strength really resonates with me.
What is one of the things on your “bucket” list?
Skydiving! I want to feel that ultimate rush of free-falling through the sky.
Who do you admire the most?
The two people I admire most are my mom and my mother-in-law. Both have inspired me in unique ways and shaped the person I am today. They’ve always encouraged me to be independent, confident, and to never settle for less. Through their strength, grace, and unwavering support, they’ve taught me to stand up for myself and lead with courage and compassion. I’m incredibly grateful for their wisdom and the example they’ve set.
If a movie were made of your life, what genre would it be, and who would play you?
It would be a drama movie, and I can see Lily James playing that role.
What is your favourite hobby?
I enjoy sketching. But these days, with my son keeping me on my toes, my favourite hobby has definitely shifted to playing board games with him. It’s competitive, chaotic, and full of laughs — and honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
What is the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?
I’m usually a safe eater, but once I accidentally ate bacon (I don’t normally eat pork or beef). That surprise was strange enough for me — my taste buds definitely noticed!
First thing you do when you get up in the morning?
My day starts with a glass of water, and then—like most of us—I am guilty of checking my phone. A quick scroll through the weather and my calendar helps me mentally prep for the day ahead.
Biggest fear?
Losing a loved one. Nothing is more terrifying than imagining life without those closest to your heart.
Biggest Dream
- Professionally, my dream is to become a respected leader in my field — someone others can look to for guidance, support, and inspiration.
- Personally, I hope to live a happy, peaceful, and healthy life and achieve financial independence so I can give my family the best possible future and enjoy the freedom to live life on my own terms.
Dream Car
Porsche
If you could get a yacht, what would you call it?
I would call it Serenity because being on the water should feel peaceful, calm, and a little bit special.
What product do you love to shop for the most?
Like most girls, I love shopping for clothes, shoes and bags. Bonus points if I find a great deal—I’m a proud value shopper!
Favourite Book
Atomic Habits by James Clear. Not a huge bookworm, but this one really stuck with me after a friend recommended it. It’s all about how tiny, consistent changes can lead to big results over time.
Favourite Movie
The Pursuit of Happiness – a powerful story about perseverance, hope, and never giving up.
Favourite Place
Anywhere on the beach—give me sun, sand, and waves, and I’m happy.
Time machine – hop in the DeLorean, where do you go, and what do you do?
If I had the chance, I’d love to take the DeLorean back to the 1960s or 70s — a time before smartphones, iPads, laptops, and constant connectivity. People actually talked face-to-face, made plans they stuck to, and navigated with paper maps. Days were spent without phones glued to our hands—no emails, no notifications, handwritten notes, and real conversations. I’d love to unplug and experience that slower, simpler way of living, even just for a little while.
If you were a superhero, what would your powers be?
Teleportation, hands down! Imagine skipping traffic, popping over anywhere instantly, and having all the time in the world to explore. Now that’s a superpower I’d love!
